Some quick snaps of a Japanese lunch I catered last week. I didn't get all the courses snapped (this never happens when you're busy in the kitchen and under pressure)
First up (was miso soup) Second, sushi and sashimi platter. I like to think that my wasabi shard is my signature shape!
Next up, tofu steaks with shitake and enoki mushrooms, in a sort of terriyaki sauce.
My favourite dish of all, although my photo is of the meat resting, I didn't take one of it plated up. Slow cooked pork belly in ginger and soy, mirin, sake and brown sugar (Buta Kakuni)
Petit fours. Matcha tea cakes, blackberry macarons, and red velvet and matcha sandwich.
For all the savoury dishes, I used Reiko's recipes from Hashi it is such a fantastic book for all levels of Japanese food and it is my bible.

WOW Milli, this all looks amazing, I want to eat it all up. What lucky clients you have!
when/if I get married, I have decided that the most important thing for me (asides from the dress...and the guy, I suppose) is most def the food. I want people to walk away and go 'wow'....and Milli, these all just made me go 'wow'. Japanese food is my favourite! I want you to cater for my imaginary wedding please!
Stephanie - Thank you! Have you been to Cho San in Putney? It is small, family run, high quality and delicious.
Tora- That made me laugh, I will gladly accept. Japanese is my favourite too and when I have the funds I can't wait to go back to Japan, even the train station sushi is better than most of what we get over here!
I'm going to Tokyo at the end of May- I will happily report back about the food!!
I am SO jealous. You are going to love it (and put on half a stone) How long are you going for?
